Subject: A good work
The title may seem a bit strange, as if it were dealing with the Ancient Hebrews. Actually, the author chose this title because he wanted to demonstrate first the closeness between God and His people in the Old Testament (the Ancient Hebrews), but ALSO because he wanted to demonstrate the closeness between Almighty God and the Congregrations and seekers of Truth in Europe.
Muston wrote about a time when European monarchs were still making life very difficult for those who believed in Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Choice in matters of Religion. But the way that Muston tells the story, really shows how God does care about each individual and how God answers prayer. This remains a great 2 volume set for the English reader. And in it, you can find good examples of wisdom, discernment, spiritual protection and prayer. Most Christians today could use a little history. God is very relevant to the personal life, perceptions and choice of each human.
There is much encouragement, many examples and interesting history found in this and other historic works. It is not difficult to read, and it is beneficial (and Free dictionary listed below for those who may need it).

Subject: History of the Waldensians (Israel of the Alps)
The work is almost too filled with encouragement and stories that are uplifting.
It documents the history of the Early Christians in Europe, and their struggles to preserve
their culture, their documents, their freedom, and dare we say it, their Bibles.
The work is heavy on sources and documentation, in many languages.
The work of Burgon [Revision Revised] serves as a good introduction to those who are looking for the details concerning versions.
But this book (actually both volumes)demonstrate that the lives of the Waldensians were devoted to the preservation of God's word and that they were not confused in the least, about which versions of the good book were real, and which ones were not.
THis set should be read just as much as Pilgrim's Progress by Bunyan. There is a great deal of content for those who wonder about the real historic roots of Genuine Christianity.
